Day 4 Of My Magic Hundred

Day 4 of my magic hundred and it seemed to have gone by so fast but I still managed to get a lot done.

After the 9.30am Boot Camp I managed to answer a few emails before starting my own workout which looked like this.

A1, Barbell Shoulder Press
A2, Hammer Grip Pull Ups

B1, Close Grip Bench Press
B1, Alternate Kettlebell Row

C1, EZ-Bar Bicep Curls
C2, Dumbbell Lateral Raise
C3, Press Ups

D, Kettlebell Swings

I followed my workout with 10 minutes of foam rolling to really help losen my upper back and shoulders and finished up with 10 minutes of stretching. All in all the workout took me an hour and I managed to get my 100 swings, 100 press ups and 50 pull ups done. In fact I did 84 pull ups today!

This afternoon I went up the stables and then out for a ride on Tom the pony. He was full of energy today and wanted to canter all the time which is fun but not good for his legs on hard roads and so I had to bring him to a halt a few times just to calm hin down.

This is the third time I've been out on him on my own and its really good fun. I haven't managed to get out and ride with Kerry lately and so am looking forward to that when we both get the time.

Jumping with Tom

I also edited one of the videos from a recent Strength Camp session I ran, in it I am attempting a 400lb deadlift which would be a new personal best. Check out the video below to see if I do it.

I've also watched 3 of the 7 underground strength DVD's. It's interesting learning new training methods that I can intergrate into my training as well as my personal training clients.

I rounded out the day listening to more OSP CD's while I cooked a healthy omlette for my dinner and then read another chapter of the fight. It's interesting to read Ali and Foreman's different training methods and moods in the run up to Rumble in the Jungle, still regarded by many as the best fight ever.

That's all for today, I'll be back with more magic hundred news tomorrow.

Day 3 of the Magic Hundred

Wendnesday is traditionally my busiest day and so I felt like I was under pressure to get my magic hundred goals done today.

But I kinda liked that pressure knowing that I've put this journey out there for people to read and hold my feet to the fire so to speak.

One of my goals was to get my main website http://www.marckent.com/ moved from the present hosting company to a new one as I was having poblems with the host I was using. I'd lost all the images I had up and was getting error message after error message everytime I tried to upload a new one.

So I sent out an email on Tuesday and by 3.00pm today it was done. So thanks to Greg for sorting that out for me. I can now go back and reload all the images which is going to take a bit of time but at least I can move forward with this. And that's what the magic hundred is all about, making consistant progress no matter how small towards your goals. Dax explains the concept in the audio program that you receive with the ebook.

I also wrote training myths part 4: Specific Exercises Are Great For Spot Reduction for my website. This is part of a 18 part series I'm doing on the myhts and lies in the fitness and fat loss industry. You can check it out here.

I took the day off from training today although I did get my 100 kettlebell swings, 100 press ups and 50 chin ups done at 9.00am. It took me 11 minutes 30 seconds today and really revved my metabolism up as I was hungry all day because of it. Why not give it a go yourself and let me know how you got on.

I also managed to listen to an interview by Eyal Lederman on the "Myth of Core Stability". Eyal is a chiropractor who was interviewed for my Level 4 Personal Training course. The article that came with it made for interesting reading as did the interview.

I finished out the day listening to more OSP and then more undergroud strength coach DVD's. It's good to see how other top trainers in the world are doing stuff and realise that I'm doing similar stuff. It's good that we've come around to the same ideas.

I've got another busy day ahead on Thursday, going to try and make time to upload 5 video's from my recent strength camp and boot camp sessions.

Until then,

Train Hard, Eat Smart!

Day 2 on the Magic Hundred

Wow what a busy and productive day!

Day two on the Magic Hundred saw me accomplish quite a lot. I've been getting lots of questions and emails from people regarding my training and so I thought I'd write an article for my website. You can read all about it here: My Training Week.

I also spent a bit of time studying for my Level 4 qualification in Personal Training. I'm currently doing advanced anatomy of the lower back and watched a video breaking it all down using cadavers. There is a lot of tissue and bone involved in this area of the body and it was good to get a real look at what goes on inside us.

I also did my lower body workout today which looked like this:

A1, Romanian Deadlift
A2, Mountain Climbers

B1, Reverse Dumbbell Lunges
B2, T-Plank

C1, 100 Kettlebell Swings
C2, 100 Press Ups
C3, 50 Chin Ups

D1, Bulgarian Bag Rotations to the left
D2, Bulgarian Bag Rotations to the right
D3, Bulgarian Bag Lateral Lunges
D4, Bulgarian Bag 45 degree lunges

I finished the workout with 10 minutes myofascial release work on the foam roller followed by 10 minutes of stretching. This workout took me just under an hour as I move very fast between sets to get a good conditioning effect and burn lots of calories.

I finished the day by listening to the OSP CD's while I was cooking a healthy omlette for my dinner, watching more of the underground training DVD's and then reading a chapter of "The Fight" which is the story of Muhammad Ali's fight against Foreman in October 30, 1974, in the Mai 20 Stadium in Kinshasa, Zaire (now Democratic Republic of the Congo).

So a lot done in one day but Dax teaches you how in his Magic Hundred book

See you tomorrow,

Day One Of The Magic Hundred

First full day working towards my Magic Hundred goals and I've already ticked a few off.

So gone are the trips to wedding fairs with Kerry. We went to two yesterday, one at the Ceaders and the other at Castle Hill. The exhibits on show were good but Castle Hill would be a stunning venue to get married.

Next was a trip out on "Tom the Tank" pony, we call him "The Tank" because once he gets going he does not like to stop. He's also a bit of an eating machine, just like me according to Kerry!

I had a good workout this afternoon and added my 100 press ups/100 swins and 50 chin ups onto the end. I did it as a none stop circuit of 10, 10, 5 and managed to complete it in 12 minutes.

Lots of stretching and 10 minutes on the foam roller today really working on on my shoulders and back.

So 2 down, 98 of my magic 100 goals to go.

See you soon,

Marc Kent
